The layout was inspired by a holiday in Austria in 1987.  It is loosely based on Mayrhofen Station which is the terminus of the narrow gauge Zillertalbahn.  A goods yard has been added to increase train variety.  

Trackwork is Peco 009 with turnouts operated by wire in tube.  

Locomotives and rolling stock are all "ready to run" by Roco and Liliput.
