| The
Plank - Dave Greenwood The year is 1919 and it's springtime in
Wordsworth country - young ladies in summer dresses and
all around a host of golden daffodils.
After the austerity of
wartime. the well-to-do are once more returning for their
holidays in the Lakes and Fells, with many visitors
staying at the Railway Inn in Wickersgill. Every layout
has a "Railway Inn"!
The railway has three
steam engines and is also proud to present an ex-WD
armoured Simplex engine and stock. The only station on
the line is Wickersgill, with a small shed and water tank
(and not forgetting the Railway Inn); trains of course,
stop along the line on request. The main traffic, apart
from passengers, is slate, stone and timber.
This is a minimum space
layout measuring 5 feet by 1 foot, enabling me to put it
under my arm and wander off into the sunset through the
daffodils!
