Lyncombe Beach is based very loosely on the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway which closed in 1935. It was saved from closure by the Southern Railway.

Lots of work is going on, the beach is busy and so is traffic (coal & sand) on the railway. There is also a small market. People are using the trains as a means of transport, including children for school and service men and women.
